I am a Student Intern at Renewal, Growth, & Healing, where I support the clinicians and staff by assisting with administrative tasks and community engagement, as well as shadowing during sessions. I am often described as warm, open, and eager to learn, and I value contributing to a supportive environment for both clients and colleagues.

In this role, my goal is to deepen my understanding of the mental health field while contributing to a smooth, positive experience for every client who walks through the door. I am passionate about mental health, and I believe that empathy, compassion, and curiosity are essential to supporting healing and growth.

As a student intern, my developing areas of interest include childhood development, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I value empathy, active listening, and thoughtful observation, and I approach each learning opportunity with openness and respect for the therapeutic process.

I am currently a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University. I plan to graduate this May with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a concentration in Applied Psychology. In addition to my job here, I am also an Assistant Teacher at a daycare, working with newborns through preschool-aged children. I spend most of my time in the infant and younger toddler classrooms, while also leading a music-based social and emotional development program with the older kids. My prior experience in customer service combined with my work in childcare have strengthened my communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills, which I will carry with me as I enter the mental health care field.

Outside of work and school, I love reading, baking (a bit of everything, but a lot of sourdough lately!), and doing crossword puzzles. I am currently in a book club that is trying to explore a variety of genres, so I am always open to new suggestions to bring to the table!

Hi, I'm Cecilia!
